DOUGLAS WONG
I started my martial arts training in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at the age of 6. I was introduced to Tae Kwon Do by my father, and have been training for about 7 years. I stopped Tae Kwon Do due to a knee injury and ever since I’ve never trained in any martial arts again although I’ve always had an interest in the arts.
I came over to England In September 1999 and did not discover Aikido till April 2003. My Aikido training began in DeMontfort University under the instruction of Sensei Terry Mickowski 3 rd Dan So Hombu and it was him who introduced me to Sensei Peter Brown 5th Dan So Hombu at Kyu Shin Kan. Since then I’ve been hooked on Aikido and truly believe in its philosophies. Sensei Peter Brown and Sensei Terry Mickowski have been very influential in my development of Aikido and I would like to thank them for giving me the opportunity to take ukemi.
Sensei Peter Brown has given me the inspiration and motivation to strive in the body arts of Aikido and I would like to thank him for the guidance he’s given me since I began. After a few months I was given the honour to join the kenshusei program under the instruction of Sensei Peter Brown. Its been very educational and a great pleasure to be able to train with Sensei Brown. I hope that I will be able to continue training at Kyu Shin Kan for many years to come.
